When I came across the Australian band Hiatus Kaiyote a while ago, I had no idea how popular they would be in such little time. As mad as I was at myself, for missing their live performance at the North Sea Jazz festival in Rotterdam, I was lucky enough to actually catch them in Amsterdam, at Paradiso a week later. Although, due to travel circumstances, I ended up having to wait about 5 hours to do the interview, their wonderful management team made it happen after the show.

Nai, Perrin and Paul (Simon was somewhere not to be found lol), talk about their experience at North Sea Jazz, the process of making music, the praise from musicians that inspired their music and being signed to Flying Buddah, Salaam Remi’s label.
